If you appreciate the wonderful Surrey countryside that we are so fortunate to live in, and fancy a leisurely walk of approx. 4 miles in great company, then here’s an opportunity not to miss.

Come alone or join us with your wife/partner/dog/guitar/binoculars/sun cream. No matter how much of Surrey you’ve explored, you will discover more on our walks.

And there’s a bonus – At the end of the walk we enjoy a pub lunch and natter.

Probus Walk - Bloomsbury Thursday 15th October

Dear all

This month’s Probus Walk will be in Bloomsbury on Thursday 15th October. Meet at 10:45 am under the Clock at Waterloo Station.

Bloomsbury has elegant and peaceful garden squares which has long attracted people of quality. These included members of the “Bloomsbury set’, a group of intellectuals who played a major role in transforming British society between the wars, away from restrictive Victorian values towards a more tolerant, creative and flexible culture. We will discuss how this happened.

Bloomsbury also has a large network of underground passages and spaces. These include the SOE’s secret armoury, immortalised by Ian Fleming as the place where James Bond is issued with his gadgets.

Lunch will be at the Lamb in Lamb’s Conduit Street (WC1N 3LZ) at about 1:30pm.

Everyone is welcome, wives, partners, friends.
